Haunting Royan…
Île d’Oléron local shredder Kris Gautier started to work on this new event in Royan (between Bordeaux and La Rochelle on the west coast of France) almost a year ago and these past 6 months the recurring question among riders here had been “Are you going to Royan?”.
Looking at the impressive riders list in all classes, the contest would be without a doubt one of the main events in France or even Europe this year. The location is amazing : indoor hall, outdoor parking lot, concrete skatepark, restaurants, sleeping facility and the ocean 10min by bike… The parking lot was sessioned all weekend and the contest absolutely epic on saturday evening. It’s hard to describe the atmosphere and the feeling that something special was happening. Things have been moving pretty well here over the past 3 years with several riders taking things in their own hands and following the footsteps of older events like Circle Cow and Ninja Spin. Please check the photo galleries here and elsewhere and of course the videos but remember…if you get the chance, nothing beats the fun of getting a little group of friends together and travelling to one of these rider organized events.
